“We are so convinced that past evils must repeat themselves that we make them repeat themselves. We dare not risk a new life in which the evils of the past are totally forgotten; a new life seems to imply new evils, and we would rather face evils that are already familiar. Hence we cling to the evil that has already become ours, and renew it from day to day, until we become identified with it and change is no longer thinkable.”
A wonderful snip written by Author Thomas Merton, in his book “New Seeds of Contemplation”.
A very close Psychiatrist friend once told me, “Many times trauma from our past teaches us to protect ourselves, then later we continue to protect ourselves even after the risk of the trauma is past, and in doing so we constantly recreate our trauma again and again in other situations.” This is such a sad reality for so many and for so many maybe just one part of their many struggles. I am very passionate about whole self healing. I truly believe sickness in our mind or soul can cause sickness in our physical body as well. While I am most definitely not an education psychiatrist or famed author I do believe that when we talk about health it has to involve all the parts of us. Healing our mind, body and soul and bringing into our lives a symbiotic relationship where all of these areas benefit from the healing that happens in each individual area. My goal for every client is that they become the best version of themself they can be, leaving no part of themself behind so that they can live life to its fullest and thrive in a happy soulful life!
